CFP – special issue on climate adaption

RAAD researchers Dr Anastasia Nikologianni and Prof Kathryn Moore are collaborating with Dr. Bruno Marques (IFLA President - Wellington University New Zealand) and Mrs Marina Cervera (Spain) to guest edit a special issue of the journal Land on” Climate Adaptation and Recovery Strategies: Reimagining Governance in Urban Regions”. They have just released the call for papers (CFP), with a deadline of 31 October 2025.

The Special Issue welcomes contributions that deal with sustainable approaches to landscapes, covering a range of scales (e.g., urban, regional, etc) and landscape typologies. We welcome submissions that deal with climate adaptation approaches and strategies, looking at environmental aspects and reimagining governance frameworks in cities and in peri-urban, rural, or regional areas. We are particularly interested in how spatial and policy strategies can address the climate emergency through inclusive, landscape-led approaches, including Indigenous ecological knowledge.

The key themes for the special issue include:

The climate crisis and the landscape

Governance and spatial strategies

Landscape design and environmental stability

Indigenous knowledge in resilience

Urban and regional responses to climate risk

Whether you're an academic, practitioner, or policymaker—if you're working at the intersection of land, climate, and governance, we would love to hear from you. Y
